Tip 1. Instead of clicking the Calculate button, you can press the ENTER key.
Tip 2. To cycle through all the text boxes, command and option buttons, use the TAB key.
Tip 3. To cycle only through the key text boxes, keep pressing the letter Z on your keyboard for several times.
Tip 4. To return one or a few controls back in the program's TAB order, use the shortcut keys SHIFT + TAB.
Tip 5. At exit, the program saves its last location on the desktop. Next run, it will reappear on the desktop where you last placed it.
Tip 6. At exit, the program saves the value of the Player's Rating and the selection of the Player's K-factor.
Tip 7. At exit, if any edge of the program's window is outside the desktop, next run the program will reappear at the desktop's center.
Tip 8. For better visibility, you can move aside the program's windows by clicking the Move Aside button in the Player's Results window.
Tip 9. The program calculates Elo results considering the FIDE rule of 350 points in rating difference.
Tip 10. The program displays values of Opponent Average. The first is due to considering the 350 point rule while the second without it.
Tip 11. To quickly quit the program or close the active program's window, press the ESC key.
Tip 12. To select a default value of the Player's K-factor 10, 15, or 25, you can press ALT + 1, ALT + 5, or ALT + 2.
Tip 13. To access the text box Player's Rating, Player's Score, or Number of Games, you can press ALT + R, ALT + S, or ALT + N.
Tip 14. The program accepts the decimal separator into the Player's Score text box because the score may be, for example, 7.5.
Tip 15. If the Player's Score is like 7.5 then type 7 and press PERIOD(.) or COMMA(,). The program adds 5 automatically.
Tip 16. Once you have typed the 4th character into a text box of Individual Ratings of the Opponents, the program shifts to the next text box automatically.
Tip 17. The program validates the data inputs. If a wrong character has been typed, it will not appear on the screen.
Tip 18. The program automatically counts the Number of Games as you type Individual Ratings of the Opponents.
Tip 19. If not enough data or wrong data were typed, the program asks you to correct it by displaying a message.
Tip 20. You can change the default values of K-factor through the Options window. To open it, on menu click Tools, and then click Options.
Tip 21. You can show the I will win motto. To show it, on menu click View, point to Motto, and then click Show.
Tip 22. You can hide the ToolTips. To hide them, on menu click View, point to ToolTips, and then click Hide.
Tip 23. To change the icon, right-click the program's shortcut, point to and click Properties. Click Change Icon, select a new one, and click OK.
Tip 24. To display Help, press the shortcut key F1.
Note: There are also tips which are not documented in this section. For example, if Opponent Average and [Real] differ each other it means that Chess Calculator has applied the FIDE rule of 350 points. You can find more tips in the program's Help which you are recommended to read. | Home
